I choked on my coke and shit my pants when I read this.
Sorry, what? You seriously can't be serious. Seriously.
I don't know what kind of players you play with/against, but a ranger can't out-dps a somewhat decent warrior.

Barrage isn't nearly as good as cripshot, and I'd prefer BHA in PvE.
Thus, it sucks. And I will continue to use Tahoma.

Took me three pages to find someone mentioning poison arrow which happens to be my fav elite. I don't think it's the best but that's why it's called a favourite

My Fav skill has always been [skill=text]Broad head Arrow[/skill]. Always nice to shut down casters that deal alot of damage. Others mentioned are good. And to the comments on [skill=text]Barrage[/skill], it was only a good skill combined with [skill=text]splinter weapon[/skill] before it was nerfed. You didn't even need to spec any points in marks if you didn't want too. But if you want to use [skill=text]Barrage[/skill], try it on a Critical strikes Sin [skill]barrage[/skill][skill]Critical eye[/skill][skill]sharpen daggers[/skill]. It would do much better on that bar than a ranger's.

Total fail here, no marks == no damage.
Don't blame Barrage if you don't know how to use it. And Ranger Barrage is at least as good as Crit Barrage, even before Barrage was buffed (edit: though the math was done, I believe, with a Conjure setup, so not exactly pure ranger).

why run barrage, when you can run volley, splinter, AND BHA at the same time?
volley+splinter+BHA > barrage+splinter

lol.........i love how all these topics go down in nothing but flames on guru.
my fav elites
atm are
Rampage as One
Poisen arrow
Quick Shot
Broadhead arrow
Burning Arrow
Prepared shot
escape
also on the thing about dmg
the great thing with rangers is you can lock down a caster and kill them
then rinse and repeat with a warrior or any other class in gw

Look defend barrage all you want. I don't care. I don't think it's that bad as some do. You can have 0 in marks with splinter barrage and get amazing damage. Even after the nerf. I know I took my Rt through NF with it and didn't spec a point in marks. You should read better.

Barrage:
Elite Bow Attack. All your Preparations are removed. Shoot arrows at target foe and up to 6 foes adjacent to your target. These arrows strike for +5...17...20 damage if they hit.
So 20 damage + max 28 from bow and the bonus if it crits. Let's say 60 to one foe.
Splinter Weapon:
Weapon Spell. For 20 seconds, target ally has a Splinter Weapon. Target ally's next 1...4...5 attacks deal 5...41...50 damage to up to 3 adjacent foes.
5 arrows hit five foes deals 50 damage to 3 adjacent. 5 x 50 x 3 = 750 damage. Yeah you're right it's fail no damage. This is after the nerf. It used to be 100+ damage to the next 6 attacks to ALL adjacent foes. I ran this as a Rt/R through NF before the nerf. Things would explode.
Barrage is an ok elite. There is a hidden condition with it. The foes have to be close together. This would work ok with PvE mobs and a tank to round them up to get the maximum out of the skill. But now with the nerf to splinter weapon it would be better to take Volley with Splinter and bring a different elite. Barrage has just lost it's favor. If you like it use it. I would take something else.

With Barrage and Splinter Weapon?
Damage is very important, it makes the red bars go down. When the red bars of all your foes are all the way down, you win.

Fail was perhaps overstated, but at 16 marks you get a bit over 40 per arrow, on average. With the Barrage bonus it's 61 HP. With 4 targets, that is 240 HP. You get to fire (at least) two Barrages in the time Splinter Weapon recharges, that is 480 HP damage. Not something to ignore, neither before nor after the nerf to SW.
(Splinter Weapon was never 6 attacks, btw, or at least, no more then it is now - at 17 channeling - and it was never 100+ damage)

Volley > Barrage.
Taking a decent elite slot ftw?

I've never ran 16 marksmanship before.
Don't even think a Superior rune has even touched my ranger since I started.
